Cosy/Regent Cinema. Converted from a Methodist Chapel. Prop: Peter Kitwood. Opened on 5th June 1938 with `The Prisoner of Zenda`. It had a small seating capacity of just 200, stalls 150, balcony 50.
Twice nightly at 5.30 and 8pm, three changes weekly.
Cinemascope was install in 1954, first scope film `The Robe` on 7th March 1954,using Gaumont-Kalee projectors with Duosonic sound. At the time of installing of scope it had the smallest S/C screen in the UK.
Closed on 30th August 1960, with `Saddle The Wind`. Reopened by Harry Seagel to part-time cinema/bingo on
22nd December 1962 with `Sword Of Sherwood Forest`. Finally closed on 20th July 1964.
Stands today as the home of Mr &amp; Mrs Ablert Ford.</description>

		<description>I went to the Ormskirk Pivvy the night it closed ignominiously, with Friday the 13th part 2. I remember at the end of the performance, the usherette with a torch in one hand, and a rounders bat in the other.
I remember the mark on the screen too, like an elongated cross.</description>
