GALLERY- November 2004

Regal/Flutters Hinkley - By Kate Taylor,Chairman of the Society.

The former Regent Cinema, Hinckley, which now operates as Flutters bingo.
These photographs were taken in the spring of 2004.
The cinema, with its Art Deco features, was opened on 11 March 1929 by a local company, Hinckley and Dursley Theatres Ltd, for dual use as a cinema and live theatre. It became part of the Odeon stable in July 1935. In 1955 it was renamed the Gaumont and in 1967 was sold to Classic. It closed a year later. It is now owned by a small company, Flutters Leisure Ltd. Pictures show the exterior, the auditorium laid out for bingo, and the foyer.
