GALLERY- August 2003The Notting Hill Coronet- Photos by fred Fullerton |
The delightful Coronet was built in 1898 to the designs of W. G. R. Sprague, described as plaster ornament in the Louis XVI manner. It went over onto mixed variety and Cinema use in 1916 and was a Gaumont in 1950.
There has been one rather obvious mutilation to the Auditorium- the boxes have been removed and now present blank bays either side of the stage.
Fred writes:
Here are 3 jpgs of the Coronet Notting Hill. King Edward and Lilley Langtrey
used
to visit this
cinema when it was a theatre. The auditorium is intact complete with circle
and stalls. It is
authentic and not touched. The is a ghost or two on site also.
